Care & Maintenance
Care and Maintenance of Teak Furniture
All Classic Teak quality teakwood products are manufactured from Anderson Teak Furniture specially selected from reserved production forests, carefully managed by the government forestry agency. Teak is a tropical hardwood with a beautiful golden /honey brown color when it is new. Over time, as natural teak is exposed to the elements, it gradually changes color from the honey color of new teak to a silver-gray patina which distinguishes finely aged, outdoor teak. After a while this silver-gray patina deteriorates to a dark-gray and greenish look if it remains untreated. Teak furniture, when left bare and unsanded, will fade to a natural silver-gray color. This color transformation does not affect the durability of the teak furniture or the wood itself. To maintain the smooth finish and golden brown color, you will need to sand your teak furniture regularly. To prolong the period of time needed between sandings, teak oil may also be applied. If you choose to apply teak oil, apply every 3 months, or follow the teak oil container instructions. If you choose to maintain the smooth brown finish of your new teak furniture, this method requires some maintenance for upkeep, such as sanding and reapplication of teak oil. Teak oil does not prolong the life of teak , it simply maintains the golden brown color.
Important tips for maintaining your teak furniture from dust or dirt:

Wash the furniture with a solution of mild detergent and water. Make sure do not apply detergent directly to the furniture (some detergent are so strong which could left stain on the furniture surface). Scrub it using soft-bristle plastic brush with water, rinse with clear water and dry it.

For best result, perform this maintenance 2 or 3 times per year.

Important tips for maintaining your teak furniture:
- Staining is permanent: Once you stain your teak, it’s difficult to go back to its natural golden brown or silver-gray color. Sanding is often necessary to remove the stain completely. Consider carefully before staining your teak furniture.
- Silver-gray requires sanding before staining: If your teak has already turned silver-gray and you want to stain it, you’ll need to sand it first to remove the weathered surface.
- Protect from water: Avoid leaving your teak furniture in puddles or on wet ground for extended periods. This can cause damage and discoloration.
- Winter storage: During winter months, it’s best to cover your teak furniture or move it to a sheltered area. This will protect it from harsh weather conditions.

Sunbrella® is 100% solution-dyed acrylic fabric. The name Sunbrella is synonymous with the finest outdoor fabric in the world. Sunbrella withstands sun, wind and rain while remaining beautiful for years. The secret to our long lasting color is found in the solution-dying process which locks colors into the acrylic fibers, so they can’t wash out or fade. Fact is, Sunbrella is so durable, we back it with an incredible 5-year limited warranty. So don’t accept an imitation outdoor fabric. Care of Sunbrella® Fabric
We only use Sunbrella® fabrics to make our cushions and parasols. Sunbrella® fabrics are widely recognized as the best for use outdoors and are used extensively for awnings, boat coverings, convertible car roofs, outdoor furniture cushions, etc. It has a Teflon® coating to help repel stains.
Color fast Sunbrella® fabric is made from 100% solution dyed acrylic fiber. The solution dying process adds color to the acrylic fibers while they are in a liquid state during manufacture, which locks in the color and prevents it fading out due to repeated washing or exposure to strong sunlight. This is the secret to Sunbrella’s easy cleaning & long life.
Warranty
The Sunbrella® fabrics used in our cushions and parasols carry a 3 year warranty from the manufacturer. This warranty covers the fabric against becoming unserviceable due to loss of color or strength from normal exposure conditions, including sunlight, mildew, rot and atmospheric chemicals. With proper care & cleaning you can expect excellent service from the fabric far beyond the warranty period.
Cleaning
One of the best ways to keep your cushion or parasol fabrics looking good and to delay the need for vigorous cleaning is to hose them off on a monthly basis during the summer season with clean water. This practice will help prevent dirt from becoming deeply imbedded in the fabric and eliminate the need for more vigorous cleaning at a later date. In most environments thorough cleaning will be needed every year prior to the summer season.
Cleaning a Parasol Canopy on the frame
Parasol canopies should be cleaned on the frame and not be washed in a machine, as the leather pockets will spoil.
· Brush off loose dirt
· Hose down with clean cold water
· Prepare a cleaning solution of a mild, natural soap (not a detergent) in water
· Apply the cleaning solution using a soft bristle brush
· Allow the soap to soak in
· Rinse thoroughly with clean cold water
· Air dry only and never apply heat to the fabric
Cleaning Cushion Covers
We recommend leaving cushion covers on the cushions for cleaning rather than removing and putting them in a washing machine.
· Wash using natural soap (not a detergent) and rinse using cold water
· Air dry only and never apply heat to the fabric
· Never put Sunbrella fabrics in a tumble dryer
Dry Cleaning
We do not recommend dry cleaning Sunbrella fabric. The chemicals used in the dry cleaning process will not harm the fabric but due to the high temperatures used during the drying process the heat may cause shrinkage.
Mildew & Stubborn Stains
Sunbrella® fabrics will not support the growth of mildew, but dirt on the fabric can lead to mildew growth, this makes regular cleaning important. There is no set frequency for the cleaning of Sunbrella fabric, which is largely determined by the local environment and the frequency and care with which it is used. Cleaning is required less frequently in a dry environment than in a humid one around heavy foliage. If stubborn stains persist you can use a diluted chlorine bleach/soap mixture for spot cleaning of mildew and other similar stains. Prepare a special cleaning mixture and proceed as follows:
· 114 grams / 4oz of chlorine bleach
· 56 grams / 2oz of natural soap
· 4.54 liters / 1 gallon of water
· Clean with a soft bristle brush
· Allow the mixture to soak in for up to 20 minutes
· Rinse thoroughly with clean cold water
· Air dry and repeat the process, if necessary
Is Sunbrella® waterproof?
Sunbrella® is not waterproof but it is water repellant. This means that during the manufacturing process a water repellant finish is applied to the fabric. The wear resulting from normal usage and cleaning will slowly reduce the effectiveness of this finish. If your fabric remains constantly exposed to the elements and water repellency is a factor then we suggest that you re-treat your Sunbrella® fabrics after vigorous cleaning with a water repellant treatment or fabric guard, available from marine shops.
Do Sunbrella® fabrics provide uv protection?
Sunbrella® fabrics have been tested and proven to provide up to 98% uv protection from the harmful effects of the sun, depending on the depth of color. White and lighter colored fabrics provide less protection than darker fabrics do. This protective factor is inherent to the product and will not be reduced by usage and/or exposure of the fabric to the sun.
Fire resistance
Our cushions supplied outside of the North American market use two different types of fire resistant Sunbrella® fabric. Firstly, Sunbrella® firesist that has fire resistance built into the fabric during manufacture and appears visually the same on the right and wrong side. Secondly, standard Sunbrella® furniture fabric with a fire retardant coating applied to the reverse of the fabric, which appears as a rubbery surface.
Neither fabric will melt or drip if exposed to heat and both are inherently flame retardant. All our Sunbrella® cushion covers and parasol canopies comply with the UK Furniture & furnishings (fire safety) regulations 1988.
Warranty
Teak and Solid Hardwood Outdoor Furniture
Anderson honors the Limited Warranty to the original retail purchaser, to be free from the manufacturing defects and workmanship, but does not include any small cracks in the end grain of wooden furniture. Anderson will pay, within one year from the date of purchase, reasonable and customary labor rates to repair or replace the defective parts excluding shipping cost from the retailer to and from Anderson or a repair center appointed by the Customer Service Department of Anderson to the original purchaser. After one year from the date of purchase, the customer will be responsible to packing, and all the shipping and transportation costs. A 1-Year Limited Warranty is given to all frames used in upholstered chairs, love seats, sofas, ottomans, loungers, benches and tables for commercial use. However, a 2-Year Limited Warranty is given for residential use for the same products mentioned above.
All-Weather Wicker Frames
Anderson honors the Limited Warranty to the original retail purchaser, to be free from the manufacturing defects. Anderson will pay, within one year from the date of purchase, reasonable and customary labor rates to repair or replace the defective parts excluding shipping cost from the retailer to and from Anderson or a repair center appointed by the Customer Service Department of Anderson to the original purchaser. Umbrella Frames & Fabrics
Anderson warrants patio umbrellas and umbrella bases to the original retail purchaser for 1 year against manufacturing defects from exposure conditions, splitting and rusting.
Fabrics are warranted for 1 year. At the discretion of the manufacturer, a damaged part will be replaced free of charge (excluding shipping)with the proof of purchase.
Cushions
Anderson warrants the seat cushions to you, the original retail purchaser, for 1 year from date of purchase, against loss of resiliency. All cushioning will soften with normal use and will conform to the shape of the user. This should be considered normal wear, and not as a loss of resiliency or a manufacturing defect. Anderson will pay, within one year from the date of purchase, reasonable and customary labor rates to repair or replace the defective parts excluding shipping costs from the retailer to and from Anderson or a repair center appointed by the Customer Service Department of Anderson to the original purchaser. All cushions orders are final. No return, no refund after the cushion is being made.

Warranty and Proof of Purchase
Proof of purchase is required with the valid date of warranty only from the original buyer. Pictures or other proof may also be required to claim the warranty.
Limitation and Exceptions
All Products
These Limited Warranties provide coverage to the original purchaser and do not apply to rented use. These Limited Warranties do not apply to any merchandise purchased “as is” or second-hand nor to any merchandise purchased at a distress sale, going-out-of business sale, or from a liquidator. All warranties, express and implied, cover only normal usage. No warranty, express or implied, applies to any condition resulting from misuse or abuse, or any condition resulting from incorrect or inadequate maintenance, cleaning, or care.

If you’re not satisfied with our product, let us know and we’ll make it right. Within 30 days, we’ll gladly replace it, refund your money (excluding delivery and restocking charges*) or credit you for our other items. After 30 days items may be exchanged for the same product or for merchandise credit (excluding delivery and restocking charges*).
Remedy
Under these Limited Warranties, the sole liability of Anderson is limited to repair, or at its option, replacement. Anderson will pay, within one year from the date of purchase, reasonable and customary labor rates to repair or replace the defective parts excluding shipping costs from the retailer to and from Anderson to the original purchaser. After one year from the date of purchase, the purchaser will be responsible for labor, packing, and all shipping and transportation costs. If within the warranty period, identical materials are unavailable at the time of repair or replacement, Anderson reserves the right to substitute materials of equal or better quality. Replacement fabrics may vary in color from the original due to dye lot differences.
Fabrics
The fabric warranties do not cover any damage or failure of the fabric where there is evidence of excessive soiling, improper cleaning, or chemical treatment with any protective coating by the dealer or consumer, and use of such treatment voids all warranties.
Finishes
These Limited Warranties do not cover any damage to or failure of the finish resulting from alcohol or water damage, exposure to sunlight, household humidity, or incorrect application of chemical treatment or any protective coating by the dealer or consumer.
Implied Warranties
Implied warranties, including any of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose imposed on the sale of this furniture and it parts under state law, are limited to the following duration. Some states do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so the above limitation or exclusion may not apply to you. This warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may also have other rights which vary from state to state.
Returns
Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) Policy

Any claim for defective merchandise must be packed in Anderson Teak original boxes and without writing on the box.

Product has to be in original condition; do not finish or paint the product, all hardware / accessories have to be returned completely.

If you are not satisfied with the product, it may be returned in its original condition within 30 days for a full refund, excluding shipping and re-stocking fee.

There will be 15% re-stocking fee for all return items.

Claims for defects or missing parts must be made within 7 days only. After 7 days, there is no service. NO EXCEPTION.

No other express warranty has been made or will be made on behalf of Anderson Teak with respect to the furniture and its parts or the operation, repair, or replacement of the furniture and its part. In no event shall Anderson Teak be responsible for consequential or incidental damages, such as loss of use, inconvenience, loss or damage to personal property, whether indirect or direct, and whether arising in contract or tort. In no event shall Anderson Teak’s responsibility exceed the purchase price of the product or its replacement.
Claim Procedure
If a problem should arise which you feel is covered by our Limited Warranties, contact the Anderson authorized retailer from whom you purchased your furniture. The original bill of sale and the product serial number are necessary for the fulfillment of the warranty. Please make sure any claim for warranty service is accompanied by the necessary information to satisfy the warranty requirements. If necessary, the retailer will contact Anderson to establish service. If the problem can be easily corrected, Anderson will authorize the retailer to make those repairs. Anderson reserves the right to require defective parts returned to the factory upon request.
